What do you think? www.polygon.com/2017/10/12/16464750/epic-games-fortnite-cheater-lawsuitFor me, I wish devs would take a stronger stance against cheating. I wish platforms would back them too. Ban their MAC address of their system, even on PC you can ban the NIC MAC address OR even ban the serial number of the Motherboard (yes they can get this from their logs). Make it so the users cannot just create a new account and start over, make them spend money! F them for ruining other's experience.

The thread's title is a little misleading. They're not suing cheaters, they're suing people who make cheats. As for what I think, I'm for it. Cheats can harm a multiplayer game as it makes people not want to play and deal with cheaters. It's particularly bad for games that are just getting by with player counts already in the lower thousands. Ban their MAC address of their system, even on PC you can ban the NIC MAC address OR even ban the serial number of the Motherboard (yes they can get this from their logs). Make it so the users cannot just create a new account and start over, make them spend money! F them for ruining other's experience. The best you can do on PC is make people buy the game again. A persistent enough player can get around anything else that requires identifying the system a player is using (probably, don't quote me). On consoles, blocking their entire system could work. I prefer the cheater pool method started by Rockstar(?) with Max Payne 3(?) where cheaters are just matched up with other cheaters. In any case, the people who cheat are only the symptoms of the problem.

Both people being sued are cheaters and making cheats. One has been reported to have been banned on several occasions.
There is a lot to it but to me, I hope other devs follow suit!
