Glad I don't have to do this again. I was dreading it.

This guy is just kinda rambling. Talking a lot and saying nothing.
I do agree with one thing. It is hilarious to see all these scrubs who have played nothing but hand holding games their whole life getting their assholes fisted by some classic 90s nonsense.

He is absolutely right when he talks about the graphics how they created a specific mood and feel, and that the remade graphics aren't necessarily better but just different. So it's not an "objective upgrade". The graphics don't "wow" me, but I think the upgraded graphics make it more accessible for today's children.
However he is wrong about the difficulty. The games were EASIER on the ps1, so even I died a couple of times. Even some longtime Crash fans have had a hard time on The High Road because of the changed physics.

The graphics are better. That's obvious. The mood can never really be recreated because that is embedded in your first impressions of the games

The graphics are definitely better. It's not even debatable. - Much better lighting - Better water, snow, and weather effects - Crash's fur texture is better than it ever was on PS1 I can understand not liking the new look, but the graphics themselves are absolutely better. No question.

What I see is two different art directions and visions.
Can you say cubism is objectively worse than 19th century American landscape paintings?
The way I see it, video games are a form of art just like music. If some artist wanted to recreate old 'The Ink Spots' songs for instance with today's technology, yes the sound would be better. The same can be said of PS1 to PS4 graphics transition. But I dare say you're artistically retarded if you think art is to be measured purely by the instruments used.
I acknowledge that the technology is better, but all I see is art from two different decades.

However, the only reason Crash looked the way he did was because of technical limitations. The games looked good for their time but I think if ND were to remake Crash, I don't think it would look that different from what VV did.

Naughty Dog has changed so much throughout the years. How many of the original crew do they have?
The mood and atmosphere are totally not identical. Oftentimes the original has lonely and depressing undertones whereas the remake has uplifting music and a completely different mood. Art is what it makes you feel. I do understand it would've been impossible to recreate the identical feel in a remake. I think the limitations are irrelevant, we always have had limitations compared to newer technology. I feel like you don't get the essence of what art is. You could create a photo-realistic Mona Lisa, it's not "objectively better" than the original though da Vinci had limitations.

See you're getting artstyle confused with the graphics.
I never said this new game had a better artstyle, just that it has better graphics. Which it does.
I think Street Fighter 3 has a MUCH better artstyle than Street Fighter 4. That being said, Street Fighter 4 still has better graphics. Better textures, better character models, better lighting, visual effects, etc.
I think graphically the remake is hands down better. But in terms of artstyle the original has a better look.
