What ideas do you have to solve the US issues? and Why?
I don't think a single payer system is the answer. I don't want people that are not doctors controlling what I should or should not have covered.
I don't think Medicare for all is an answer, either. It would be an economic disaster.
I know on the PS forums the discussion went towards allowing Insurance companies crossing state lines, I agree that this needs to happen.
How about not allowing health insurance companies to go public? So the bottom line and dividends are not the goal?
How about requiring health insurance companies to be "Non-Profit"?
I don't know the answers but something needs to happen.

1) Don't mandate people purchase insurance of face government fines 2) Go back to what we had prior to President Obama and Congress screwing us with the ACA (pre 2009). Put that back into place but create a separate safety net, funded by taxes on health insurance premiums, to cover those with pre-existing conditions that insurers previously would not cover. Or, if that doesn't work, give those with pre-existing conditions medicare and have them pay the mean/average of what everyone else pays for regular plans. 3) Allow the sale across state lines to increase competition and lower prices.

This is nuts right now. We pay close to $200/month/person in our house for Health Insurance, we both have our own. Then I have a $5k deductible, $100 Co-Pay AND 80/20 coverage on some services and 60/40 on other services. Total fucking joke!
My GF has very similar coverage and has to have a procedure, it is going to cost us $3k out of pocket for the procedure (not elective). What is the fucking point of having insurance if it doesn't cover anything?

What is the fucking point of having insurance if it doesn't cover anything? I pay just over $600.00 per month for myself but our deductible is 1k, 25/50 co pay and some services are free. Perscriptions aren't too bad either, like 10 bucks for generic. I used to pay $235 and had 0 deductible $25/$50 and 80/20 for almost all other services...that was BEFORE the ACA/Obamacare was passed. I blame congress and President Obama for putting forth the bad legislation and then signing it into law. I really think they knew that all these premium increases and insurers dropping out were going to happen. It was the plan, wait for it to fail then President Clinton could have rode in on the "single payer" horse and put us all on govt healthcare (just make sure you don't have a Charlie Guard situation and it will be just fine....)
