I plan on getting back into this game. Just gotta re-download it to my Steam. I probably will re-open a dedicated server with some friends when I get a new processor. Old FX AMD cards just can't run the game.

Oh snap, Setzaroth building a new computer?! Give us full details. I wouldn't really call upgrading Mobo, RAM, and CPU building a new computer. Then again maybe that's exactly how you define it, since the Mobo and CPU control everything.
I'll probably be going with an i7-7700K (unless I find a good deal on a Ryzen) 16GB of DDR4 RAM, most likely 2400 speed. And no particular mobo, just one that isn't absurd in price and supports the RAM.
I got a 1070 GPU almost a year ago, and it's still way overkill for pretty much any game on max settings at 1080P. Even 1440P.

I'm running the 7700k right now. I can't really compare it to anything since I've been out of the PC scene for almost a decade. I'm pretty sure the Ryzen's are great for super multi-tasking/gaming and content creating. I always assumed the Ryzen equivalents were supposed to have better pricing compared to the Intel's.

I'm pretty sure the Ryzen's are great for super multi-tasking/gaming and content creating. I always assumed the Ryzen equivalents were supposed to have better pricing compared to the Intel's. The Ryzens are comparable, the issue is, I've heard you need 3200 speed RAM for them to see their full potential, and Mobos that support that are upwards of $200. So your overall build ends up being more money.
I wish games would take advantage of multiple cores. My Fx-8350 runs Battlefront and Battlefield 4 at over 100+ fps on ultra/max settings. That's a 6 year old processor. Intel has made PC gaming (which is already pretty affordable) more expensive than it has to be.
