That was just my first impression, it's not that bad to be honest. First time I used Reddit I was "the hell is this?", now I love the Reddit format. Traditional forums with signatures, avatars, profiles and other stuff and information... it can't be beat.
Okay, now I may have an idea what Discord is for. It's a communication service for gamers and streamers, mostly streamers. Sometimes I think how easily streamers make some money, makes me want to try it out myself. Any extra money would be nice, but I think that's a wrong reason to start streaming... So I won't. EDIT: Just to be clear, I'm talking about $10 a month, not full-time.

Trying Discord for the first time. UI doesn't seem that good. Don't know if this is a Skype 2.0 or kik 2.0. Neither. Skype is clunky and uses tons of resources, Kik is garbage.
Discord is the most popular chat platform for a reason.
Yes, Discord is aimed at gamers. But, it can be used for basically any type of community. I run a couple (mostly dead now) and admin on another.
They're also beta testing video chat right now with select people.
As far as streaming goes, there's really only 3 ways to be successful:
1. Be very good at the game you're playing / professional 2. Have an interesting personality, and depending on your game or audience, hyperactive 3. Be a moderately attractive girl and milk thirsty loners for their disposable income. This sounds cynical, but I've seen it time and time again.

Again, I'm talking about getting a free pizza once a month, not making $100 a month. I think those points are true, though I'm not sure about the 3rd. You know, successful streamers. I'm certainly not hyperactive, but I can engage in a conversation with people and entertain bad jokes. I've seen some very small streamers get tiny donations, and I would be content with that. But being in for the money is not right, and building a following/community is not something I have a tremendous interest for. That's sorta narcissistic.

But ya, even getting noticed enough to make enough money for a pizza is pretty tough. Not withstanding a stroke of luck of course.

I practically live on Discord. 3. Be a moderately attractive girl and milk thirsty loners for their disposable income. This sounds cynical, but I've seen it time and time again. Yeah, I found Lana Rain through pornhub.

#3 is 1000% true and accurate, sadly . The thirst is real in the gaming scene... To me, any donation over $5 is a little overboard

>current year >rick rolling
I'm cool with that. Can we get a studio version?
Yeah, I know boobtwitchers exist, I just think the other 2 options (highly skilled gameplay or a specific personality) have higher success rates. Good looks is an advantage to women and men alike. People like to look at beautiful people. I got that one covered HAHA!
