Man, the stuff going on in the US. I don't want to start a new thread in the politics forum, but man... You guys fetishize race so much it's absurd to me. I get it. Blacks (and other ethnicities) had a hard time decades ago. We should be past that. It's as absurd if I were to hold a grudge toward Swedes and Russians for what they've done in the past. You don't inherit your ancestors' crimes. Anybody who holds a grudge toward certain peoples based on something said people are not responsible for should just end themselves quite frankly. That's so unnecessary. I sympathise with white people but I don't symphatise with white nationalists. I'm not really commenting on the protests, but the general atmosphere in the US atm. When it comes to the protests, I'm not supporting either side. I just think the whole racial tension is so unnecessary and so stupid. Maybe I'm just a fool who doesn't have any perspective because I live in a rather homogeneous country. Obama started this mess, and now we have to clean it up over here. No, it's not pretty, and I agree that both sides were in the wrong. Still, I get tired of being called a racist every day because I'm a working class, white, tax-paying American male. We're due for another Revolution, and I pity the black minorities over here when racist whitey gets fed up and fights back. |

I worked hard to get where I am, I put in a LOT of overtime at the workplace and a LOT of personal time finishing off my degree. There was no "white privilege", "silver spoon" or anything like that.
I do not support, condone or agree with the white supremacist but in the same breath I do not support, condone or agree with Antifa or BLM. All parties that showed up this weekend for violence are in the wrong and have no place in the US. You have the right to have your opinion but inciting violence is unacceptable.

Our media blows all this way out of proportion and ends up riling up both extremes of the political parties. I totally agree that we, as a nation, are so focused on race it is absurd. Honestly I don't understand why people of all races get all crazy about other races like that, in the end we are all the same. As you said groups from all racial backgrounds, at one point or another, have had it tough in the USA. It is ludicrous for people to be holding that up. For example, slavery...no one living in America today owns or had owned a slave (well maybe you can find someone who while living in another country before immigrating here but you know what I mean) so its time to accept the shitty event of slavery in American history and get over it. There may still be a few American's alive today who were around during some of the leftover segregation in the south during the 60's but anyone born in the last 40 years hasn't experienced that either. The white nationalists are just as racial/racist and absurd as the KKK, as BLM, and as ANTIFA are. Doesn't matter what side of politics or what race people are, racism is racism and it just is stupid. You aren't a fool, you are pretty spot on from my American perspective. The protests that happened were both white nationalists and antifa members showing up, both sides with bats/armor/shields, and both sides looking to cause a violent clash with the other side. Yet when the President called out all the violent hate going on he got chastised for it by a media who wants to portray their own agenda. This is the sad part to me, the dishonesty that goes on and the attempts to twist things into a "my side is right, your side is evil" by people on all sides. I think I already said this but it is just stupid. /rant off |
