Would you rather be lost in a huge forest or stuck on a deserted island?
I think I'd rather be lost in a huge forest. Plenty of opportunity to gather food/make shelter and at least, someday, you might find your way out!

There's a lot more resources in a forest. The only downside would be the winter depending where the forest is.

Yeah, practically speaking forest. More options, incl. better chance of getting back to civilization.
But I do luv me a tropical island :') How big would it be?
